Post 7 - Tallulah Gorge

Tallulah Gorge State Park is one of the newest yet most famous state parks in Georgia. At over 1,000 feet deep and two miles wide, the gorge has some beautiful scenery. There are several pretty water-falls and hiking trails. Shannon and the kids hiked the North Rim trail one day, then we all went back to traverse the 1,000+ steps down to the 80' high suspension bridge, around the south rim and to the damn shown below. The gorge floor hike is permitted to only 100 hikers per day and is said to be a strenuous hike; there are places where you have to climb over fallen logs along with some mild rock climbing. We hope to do that soon. The coolest part of our family trip to the Gorge was bumping into a former pre-school friend of Mason's, who had moved to Georgia three years ago.
