Postv 22 - Statesboro, GA; Charleston, SC and Skidaway Island

We left River Falls Campground in Tallulah, GA on July 31st headed towards Statesboro, GA. We took a two day trip to Charleston, SC to explore the old downtown area. We also visited North America's only Tea Plantation the Charleston Tea Plantation.

Right around the corner from the tea plantation, we visited the Angel Tree, an approximately 3000 year old Southern Oak that has withstood war, mother nature and mankind.

We arrived in Statesboro on August 2nd and Rob began work on the 3rd. The first weekend there we drove over to Skidaway Island to visit the UGA extension Aquarium. It was small but had a nice trail leading to an overlook of the Skidaway River. We stayed and watched a pod of dolphins playing in the river for a few minutes and saw thousands of small tiny crabs in the muddy shore.

After having pulled the travel-trailer a few hundred miles, up and down hills, Rob decided we needed to look for a 5th wheel and different truck. Our search landed us in a small town in SC about 2-1/2 hours away where we test-drove a Dodge RAM 2500. There was some red-tape to cut through since we were buying the car out-of-state and wanted to register it in Florida while living in GA. So we trekked back to SC two weekends later to purchase the truck. On the in-between weekend we drove down to Bartow to look at a 5th wheel Camping World had taken in on trade. It was a little more used than our current travel trailer but worth the deal we got since Rob is very handy and could repair/replace most of the things we wanted to deal with. So, the weekend after purchasing the truck, we headed back to Bartow with our new-to-us Dodge 2500 and hauled the 5th wheel back. That was our first 5 weeks in Statesboro. The next 5 weeks would be remodeling, replacing and repairing things on the weekends when Rob wasn't working. During one of those weekends we ended up selling our travel trailer to a very friendly older couple, so we were living in the 5th wheel while the entire living area was disassembled. Needless to say there were a few short fuses during that time since things were constantly awry and nothing was where it should have been, but we survived. We removed the old sofa and covered the dinette cushions, removed the border around the entire living area and bathroom, and painted the area behind the couch & dinette.
