Post 21 - White Water Rafting the Nantahala

Took the kids on a 3 hour white water rafting adventure down the Nantahala River. Class 1 & 2 rapids, with a class 3 at the end, was a great introduction to the 47 degree water event. 0-:

Post 20 - Turf Tubing @ Sky Valley

Sky Valley is home to winter and summer activities. When there is no snow, the trail is converted to a giant slide. The kids enjoyed 2 hours of turf-tubing, single, double and triple-riding.

Post 19 - Tree Climbing @ Panola Mountain State Park

We signed up for an "Intro to Tree Climbing" event through Panola Mountain State Park. Harnessed and helmeted we ascended into the 200+ year old Southern Red Oak for aerial acrobatics (bat hang) and a mother/daughter tandem swing. For my enjoyment, we searched and found a couple geocaches there too.

Post 18 - Bridal Veil, Dry and Glenn Creek Falls

We took a drive up to North Carolina to see Bridal Veil and Dry Falls. Recent flooding and subsequent erosion in the area have drastically diminished the water flow over Bridal Veil Falls leaving it to little more than a trickle. Cars were once allowed to drive behind the falls but the area has now been deemed too hazardous for such heavy weights.

Dry Falls is spectacular. Mason found every little nook and cranny he could crawl into, and of course my monkeys (even the big one) had to do some climbing.

Glenn Creek Falls was an unexpected detour. On our way home we saw a sign pointing it out and decided to give it a try. It was a beautiful downhill hike for about 1 mile to the base with a few water falls along the way. At the bottom we found a small standing pool of water where several frog eggs had been lain. Not a hike for the faint of hike, nor one to venture on without water (GASP)!

My silly girl getting her own drink of water!

Post 17 - Visitors

We were so blessed and excited to see familiar faces. We met up with the Koruschak Family for lunch and then a little shopping/bowling with Cindy and Bethany.

These two had their share of bowling after 1 game and made themselves comfortable to watch tv

.
The sweet McDow family made some time to stop by and see us on their way home from family camp in North Carolina. Look at those adorable kiddos!

We are sure going to miss CC with you all this year!
